A Tribute to Gautam Gambhir as he Retires.

Gautam Gambhir was one of the finest opening batsmen for India. He Played a total of 58 Test Matches,147 ODIs and 37 T20s for India and scored more than 10,000 Runs at the international level. He played his last professional match for Delhi in Ranji Trophy and scored a century in it. Lets have a look at a few of his contribution to Indian Cricket

1.Highest Scorer for India in both the World Cups Finals that he played in.

Gautam Gambhir was the highest scorer for India in both the World Cup Finals that he played in. He scored 57 runs in the 2007 World T20 Final and 97 runs in the 2011 ICC World Cup Final.It is interesting to note that India went on to win both these Finals. 

2. ICC Test Player of the year 2009.

Gautam Gambhir was named the ICC Test Player of the year 2009. He was also ranked the number 1 Test Batsmen by the ICC in 2009. He scored most Centuries by an Indian in Test Cricket in 2009 and was Instrumental in Indias rise to the top test team.

3. Most Consecutive Centuries by an Indian In Test Cricket.

Gautam Gambhir is the only Indian to score 5 Consecutive Test Centuries in 5 consecutive test matches. Only Don Bradman is better than him who scored 6 Centuries in 6 consecutive Test matches. Jacques Kallis and Mohammad Yousuf are the only others to score 5 Consecutive Centuries.

4. Most Consecutive Fifty Plus score by an Indian In Test Cricket.

Gautam Gambhir is the Joint Indian record Holder for most Consecutive 50 Plus score in 11 Consecutive test matches. Virender Sehwag has also scored 11 Consecutive 50 Plus score in 11 Consecutive test matches.West Indian legend Vivian Richards and Mr 360 AB Devilliers have also scored Accomplished this Feat.

5. Only captain of India with 100% Win rate.

Gautam Gambhir has Captained India in a Total of 6 ODI matches and has won all of them. He never Captained India in a Test Match or a T20. Hence he is the only Indian Captain under whom India has never lost a match. India Whitewashed New Zealand 5-0 Under him. He was also the Man of the Series in that series.
