Remembering Scott Styris on his Birthday

Scott Styris was one of the most Successful All-rounder to Play One Day International Cricket for New Zealand.He played a total of 188 ODI’s and 28 Test Matches for the Black Caps.His medium pace bowling during the middle overs and Hard hitting abilities during the slog overs made him an asset to the Kiwi side.He provided the balance to the side that any team would like to have.Its his birthday today and lets have a look at a few unknown things about him.

1.Scott Styris was born on the 10th of July 1975 in Brisbane, Australia and made his debut in 1999 against India.

2.He had a blistering start to his test career as he scored a century (107) in his first innings and 69 runs in the second against West Indies and in the process became the 5th New Zealand batsman to score a Test century on debut.

3. Scott Styris first wickets in both ODI’s and test was of legends and arguably the best two batsmen of that era.His first ODI scalp was Sachin Tendulkar and first Test scalp was the great Brian Lara.

4. He was one of the top-scorers in the 2007 World Cup making 499 runs and Helping New Zealand Reach the Semi Final.He Once helped New Zealand chase a mammoth 332 against the Australians by scoring a 101.

5. Scott Styris played in the IPL in 2008 for Deccan Chargers.In 2011 he was Signed by Chennai Super Kings for $200,000.He played franchise Cricket in various leagues.He once Scored a Hundred in 37 balls for Sussex which also included 38 runs in a single over.

6. Scott can now be seen in the commentary box.He is giving it back to the game that he loves.Scott will always be remembered for his contribution to New Zealand cricket.
