Unique Records that were made 35 years ago at the 1983 World Cup Final.

25 June 1983 is a date that will be etched in every Indian Cricket Fan’s memory.
Indian went on to win the world cup for the first time in history.They Defeated two time World Cup winner West Indies that had legendary players Vivian Richards,Desmond Haynes,Gordon Greenidge and Clive LLoyd in their Batting Line Up and their bowling attack comprised of the Fab Four of that Era Andy Roberts, Malcolm Marshall, Joel Garner and Micheal Holding.India were ranked lower then Zimbabwe before the start of the World Cup and hence it was a great achievement for them to beat the World Champions.On the 35th anniversary of this victorious triumph lets have a look at the Records that were made on that day.

1. Lowest Total Defended in a World Cup Final
When India Defended a Total of 183 runs it became the lowest total by any team in the first innings in a winning cause in a world cup final.This record stands till date.No other team has been able to defend a score lower than 183 in a World Cup Final.

2. Man of the Match In Both World Cup Final and Semi Final
Mohinder Amarnath was Awarded the man of the match in the Final for his economical bowling figures of 3 wickets for just 12 runs in 7 overs.He was also the man of the match in the Semi Final for 46 runs of 92 balls and Bowling figures of 2/27 in 12 overs.He was the first player to be awarded with Man of the Match In Both World Cup Final and Semi Final.Till date he is the only Indian to do it.Later on Arvinda De Silva Achieved the same feat in 1996 World Cup and Shane warne in 1999.

3. Only World Cup Final Where No Fifty was Scored
The 1983 World Cup Final was the only World Cup Final In the History where not a Single Batsmen Could Cross a score of 50 runs. Krishnamachari Srikanth was the Highest Scorer for India with 38 Runs and Vivian Richards Scored 33 For the West Indies in that Low Scoring Final.

4. Highest Wicket taker in The Tournament
Stuart binny bowled Superbly in Final.He became the highest wicket taker in that tournament taking 18 wickets and was the first indian to be the Highest Wicket at the World Cup.Anil kumble with 15 wickets in 1996 and Zaheer khan with 21 Wickets in 2011 replicated the feat.
